Roadrunner Artists Locking Down Festival Shows!

The spring and summer are when major rock and metal festivals can be found all across America and Europe, and some of Roadrunner's biggest artists are going to be playing them! We've already told you that Slipknot will be headlining the 2012 Mayhem Festival tour, and now two more major shows - one in the US and one in the UK - have been announced as well!

From May 18-20, the Rock on the Range festival will take over Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, and among the bands on the bill will be Megadeth, Trivium, Rob Zombie and Black Stone Cherry.

The following month, from June 8-10, the Download Festival will be held in Donington Park in England, and the bill there will include Megadeth, Trivium, Machine Head and DevilDriver.

Black Stone Cherry Filming New Video

Black Stone Cherry is filming a new video for "In My Blood" that follows a US soldier as he comes home from overseas deployment. The US Army in Europe posted this photo on their Facebook page today:

They wrote, "Check out this photo of PFC Randy Hirneisen, a recently re-deployed Soldier with the 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, cleaning his weapon as a production crew gathers footage for a Black Stone Cherry music video. The video for their hit song 'In My Blood,' will feature Hirneisen's daily life as a Soldier in Germany and will also capture his homecoming on Jan. 15 where he will meet his new-born son for the first time!!"

Indegoot Entertainment, the management company that represents Theory of a Deadman and Black Stone Cherry and put together the Carnival of Madness Tour, sent a couple of its interns out on the road with a video camera, and some of the footage they captured is below.

You can see the members of Theory and BSC, as well as the other bands on the tour (Alter Bridge, Emphatic and Adelitas Way) taking pictures with fans, shaking hands and signing autographs. There's also some performance footage. Check it out below.

Black Stone Cherry's Ben Wells Talks Touring, New Single

Black Stone Cherry guitarist Ben Wells was recently interviewed by Napster's Music Blog. In the short Q&A, he discusses the status of the band's latest album, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, and its single "Blame It On the Boom Boom," and reveals where the band would like to head next on tour.

Says Wells about life on the Carnival of Madness tour with Theory of a Deadman and Alter Bridge, "We all hang out and spend time with each other during the day and night. We often have BBQs by the buses!" He also admits that while the band will play "Anywhere that wants to hear BSC," if the band had their choice, "we would love to play Hawaii."

Black Stone Cherry's Ben Wells Interviewed By Maximum Ink Magazine

Black Stone Cherry lead guitarist Ben Wells was interviewed by the Wisconsin-based music magazine Maximum Ink as part of the lead-up to the band's performance this Saturday, August 13, at the WIIL Rock the Ranch show. Wells talks about the band's new album, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, which includes their cover of the Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See."

Says Wells, "We started doing that on our headline tour of Europe in 2009. It was just a fun thing to do live at the time. We were doing it more traditional and true to the original then, too. We ended up recording it as a demo for the album and everyone flipped over it so we had to spice it up and rock it out a little more to make it our own thing!"

He also talks about the shift back and forth between playing smaller clubs on their own and playing arenas (as they'll be doing on the Carnival of Madness tour with Theory of a Deadman and Alter Bridge; tour dates here). He says, "Honestly, there’s few things bad with playing an arena except for the distance between the band and the audience. We prefer the fans to be real close and in our face; makes it more personal. But small rooms can suck too at times; no showers, small PA, you just have to deal with those things. We don’t let them really get to us, as long as the people are rocking out, we’re happy!"

Video: Black Stone Cherry Live Acoustic Session

Southern rock outfit Black Stone Cherry recently recorded an acoustic performance for the UK music site Shazamers.com (affiliated with the music application Shazam).

Shazam's music recognition technology enables anyone with a mobile phone to identify music that is playing - even under noisy conditions - wherever they are, simply by Shazaming it. The clip is run through the company's database of more than 10 million tracks (extending back to the '50s) to find an exact match.

The Shazam app now includes other useful content such as music recommendations, lyrics, and tour information – and, of course, the opportunity to watch the video or buy the track.
